London Wool Markets.
PRICES 5 TO 15 PER CENT HIGHER. We are indebted to Mr Matheson for the following report from their London agent of the Colonial Bank, received by the last 'Frisco mail : — Tho fourth series of colonial wool sales for this year opened on the 2nd July, with a net available quantity of 386,000 bales (including about 63,500 bales (old stock) held over froni last series). Of tb^e total New Zealand has about 129,500 bales, of which 121,000 bales are fresh arrivals. The attendance of buyers from all parts was large, and with fully representative catalogues competition has been extremely g,nimatecl, Prices as compared with closing rates of last sories for Merinos may be quoted at 5 to 7 _■ per oent higher, especially for greasy descriptions ; faulty scoureds being little if any dearer. Cro3sbreds show an advance of 10 per cent with strong competition, and in tho case of bright lustre descriptions the rise is ofton as much as 15 per cent.
