The Feilding Star, Oroua & Kiwitea Counties Gazette. Published Daily. WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 14, 1895. A USEFUL APPOINTMENT.
It is a matter for <-o«gratulcition on I the part of the scholars, as well tin the j parents, that the W;inganui Education i iJuard has appointed a competent man ! to the position of physical drill instructor !to t\i& schools in this district. The vast beue£t £9 tye derived from the knowledge aud practice $ gym-
nastics by the youth of both sexes has long been recognised in most parts of the civilised world, especially as regards health of body and mind. In this connection we would suggest that the committee of the local Gymnasium Club should wake into active life and j raake preparations to take advantage of the presence of M. dv Mey d'Alkemade on his next visit to Feilding to get some hints for their guidance before going to any expense in the purchase of appliances which may be out of date. As soon as more particulars | are to hand a meeting should be called j and the subject discussed.
