Wanganui Education Board.

The adjourned meeting of the above was held yesterday. PresentMessrs G. Carson (Chairman), Sanson, Bridge, Baker, Fry, Pirani, Hurley, and Beckett.. Mr Bridge nioyed, and Mr Baker seconded, That the Inspectors be instructed that, for the future, suggestions with regard to improved methods of teaching, instead of being embodied in their reports, be sent separately to the head teachers for their information and for the information of their subordinate teachers, The motion was lost. On Mr Pirani's motion, it was resolved that Mr Blair bs consulted as to the possibility of his holding drawing classes in Paimerston North every third Saturday, and making arrange ments for the holding of classes at Wangauui and Paimerston during his absence. An application was received from M. dv Mey ri'AAkemado in reference to appointment as physical drill instructor to the schools— Members strongly favored the idea, dwelling particularly on the great necessity for some instruction of the sort in the schools if children were to grow up properly. — On Mr Sanson'a motion, seconded by Mr Hurley, it was decided to offer M. dv Mey £300 and £20 for a bicycle for one year, on conditions to be fixed by the Executive, each school to be visited at least twice in the year. A statement was made that the Roman Catholic authorities at Hawera h-id published Mr Bindon's report on their school, and it was decided to ascertain if the statement was correct so as to consider the advisability of publishing- all the reports on Catholic schools. Some discussion took place as to the advisability of having nfc least one female teacher in a school where more than two teachers are engaged, and it was generally agreed that, where possible such a course should be adopted. Beaconsfield — Owner of township to be asked to vest education reserve in Board. Fusion — Pen mission to erect gym narium granted, site to be approved by Board. Halcombe— Carpenter to attend to repairs Peraberton — Closing of school acceded to. Bunny thorpe — Carpenter to attend to repairs. Cheltenham —Erection of residence to go on list if site obtained. The Board then adjourned.
