The reduction for the latter mouths is with a view to induce breeders to grow winter feed and thus equalise shipments during the year. The Agricultural Department has convened a frozen meat conference to discuss Messrs Nathan's and Orbell's propositions for August 27th. AUCKLAND, August 9. At the inquest at Hukerenui on Thos. Broom, i*nm digger, aged 76, formerly of the 08th Regiment, and through the Northern war, the jury returned a verdict of death from natural causes, with the rider added — " That it is a disgrace to New Zealand that an old soldier died in obscurity, being neglected and never getting any assistance from Government for his services" IxVERCABGILL, Aug. 9.
