Attempted Murder.

(FEB FBESS ASSOCIATION). Patea, August 3. A brutal attempt to murder occurred at Hukatere. A half-caste of Waitotara, named Wire te Kaahu, attacked his wife, indicted terrible wounds on her head and face, threw her on a fire and cleared out. The woman was found insensible and conveyed to the Hospital, where she now lies in a very critical state. The hut presents an awful appearance, bespotted with blood. Search is being made for Wire, but it is. supposed he. has committed suicide. He was implicated in the murder of a woman at Waitotara in 1890, and was a well-kuown footballer. [The unfortunate woman died in the hospital on Saturday.]
