Death of Judge Richmond.
(Per Press A. c sociation.) Wellington, August 0. Mr Justice Richmond died at six o'clock this evening, from congestion of the lungs, after a seven days' illness, aged 74 years. He eat this diy week on the Dean case, and had since been confined to his house. His de ith was rather unoxpectel. He wasbjrn in London in 1821, and called to tbe bar from Middle Temple in 1815. After practising in Englanl oeven years, he married a sister of the late Sir Harry Atkinson, and, with tbe latter, arrived in Nesv Plymouth in 1856, where he received the appointment of Provincial Attorney. He became Member of the House of Representatives the same year aad subsequently was appointed Minister of the Crown, holding offices of Colonial Secre tar}*, Colonial Treasurer, and Minister of Native Affairs which he held until 1861, when he went to Duuedin, where he practised till the following year when he was appointed Judgo of the Supreme Court.
