Manawatu Rugby Union.

A general meeting of members of the Manawatu Rugby Union was held at the Manchester Hotel, Feilding, last evening. The following delegates were present — Messrs H. Nash and Perrin (Pirates Club), Macarthur and I. Fake (Palmerston), Mahon (Half- Holiday) , A. C. Matheson, A. O. Carfcy (Feilding), F. Bray (Red Star), P. Giesen and A. Richards (Marton). Mr W. A. L. Bailey, President was. voted to the chair. Mr J. Hall a vice-president was also present. Correspondence was received from the N.Z.R.U. re their decision in the protests lodged by Palmerstou and Feilding, particulars of which have already been published ; also, re sending a team to Marlborongh. The Bush and Auckland Unions wrote stating they could uot send a team to play Mana- ( watu this season, and from the "Wellington Union re the junior representative match on Wednesday, August 9th. The Taranaki Union wrote stating there was every prospect of their sending a team to play Manawatu, and asking if Manawatu could send a senior team to Taranaki. The Rangitikei branch expressed their willingness to play a match on August 3. Correspondence was also read relative to the admission of the Rangitikei clubs as a branch of the Union. The matter of the N.Z.R.U. award re the Palmerston protest was considered at length, and a motion by Mr Macarthur that the Feilding Club be disqualified from the championship and that it be awarded to the second club was negatived. After several amendments were put and lost, one by Mr Carty and seconded by Mr Goodbehere was carried, to the effect, That the match Feilding against Palmerston, in which the rules were infringed bo played over again at PaJmersfcofl. Notice of motion, vras given that a protest committee of five' be appointed at the annual general meeting to decide all protests. "* . Notice of motion was also given, That the resolution re subscription from the Rangitikei branch be rescinded.
