The Napier Cathedral.

A SPLENDID SUBSCRIPTION. I Per Press Association ! Napier. July 27. Last Sunday Dean Hovell reminded the Cathedral congregation that there still remained a debt of L2OOO on the building, interest on which was a material drag on the annual income. 'He therefore asked them to make a special effort and raise LIOOO during the week, and this morning the Cathedral was crowded by the congregation, anxious to hear the result, though few expected the amount asked for would be raised. .When the Dean appeared with a large Cathedral Alms dish tilled with cheques, notes, gold, silver and coppers, and announced that over LI2OO had been subscribed, there was visible emotion, and as the plate was deposited on the Commuuion table the whole congregation rose and sang the Doxology with ling effect. : ; V \ >:
