The China-Japan War.

The following report of the panorama on the China- Japan war which is to be shown in the Assembly Rooms this evening, appeared in a Palmerston contemporary :— The seating accommodation of the Drill Hall was taxed to its utmost last night when Mr Robson exhibited his admirable panorama of the ChinaJapan war, many of the late comers having to stand. The lecturer favored his audience with a number of beautiful pictures showing ships of war past and present to give an idea of the difference between ancient and modern naval warfare. As the naval battles of the late war were the first in which modern men-o'-war took part, the pictures of those 1 battles bore additional interest. Besides representations of the principal battles, pictures were shown of the completeness of the Japanese armament and arrangements for the effective mobilisation of troops. Interesting Japanese customs, etc., were also depicted. The China-Japanese war series of pictures was brought to a close with a representation in two scenes of the working of a sub-marine mine, accompanied by a loud explosion. Altogether, the entertainment was highly interesting and instructive, and we trust Mr Robson will receive the same hearty support in Feilding, as he received in Palmerston.
