The Piincess of Wales and Kaiapoi Tweeds.

(Per Press Association). Christchurch, July 25. By last San Francisco mail a letter was received from the Princess of Wales entrusting Messrs Ballantyne & Co. with an order for two dresses of New Zealand dress tweed, manufactured by the Kaiapoi Woollen Coy. These goods, which were specially made to the order of Ballantyne & Co., were brought under the notice of her Royal Highness by the Countess of Macclesfield. The Princess was much interested in the fabrics, and immediately forwarded an order. She expressed considerable surprise and pleasure at the remarkable proficiency attained by this colonial textile industry and both she and many other ladies concluded that the materials are equal to anything of a similar class manufactured in England. This recognition of colonial industry is most gratifying.
