New Zealand Workers' Union.
(Per Pres Association.) Waimatk, July 23. The following resolution was carried at an extensive meeting of tho Now Zealand Workers' Union on Saturday : — " That in the experience of thiw Union the proposal to mako Stipendiary Magistrates independent of Government control is premature, and should not be carried into effect until a better class of men has been appointed in plage of those now occupying the Bench. The viiification of this Union by the S.M. on the occasion of the Benmoro sheep dispute ; and his later conduct in sending a man to trial for murder against whom Judge Denniston declared thero was no evidence, indicates the necessity of more vigilant and active control by the Government rather than its abandonment."
