Colyton School Committee.

The above committee meeting was held on tlie 19fch July. Present — Messrs Owen Pleasants (chairman), Edward Smith, W. H. Power, Patrick Lynch, G. Ash worth, T. Shortall. The minutes of the last ordinary meeting, and also of the special meeting held on the 28th June, were read and confirmed. Two accounts were read, one from Mrs Younger for cleaning the school in June, and one from Mr G. Asbwortb for cutting and delivering two cords of firewood, and on a proposition by Mr Smith seconded by Mr Lynch were passed for payment. The chairman read a letter from the Education Board with reference to the appointment of a Truant Inspector. A stiort discussion followed, when it was proposed by Mr Shortall, seconded by Mr Power, That the Committee do not tbink a Truant Inspector is required for this district. — Carried. The master's report was read by the chairman, and ifc was proposed by Mr Lynch, seconded by Mr Shortall, That tbe report be received. — Carried. The report mentioned that Arbor Day fall on Sunday, 4th August, aud it was proposed by Mr Ash worth, seconded by Mr Power, That Monday tbe sth be observed instead. Carried. Tbe Master suggests to bold tbe proposed children's concert on Tuesday, August 6th, and it was proposed by Mr Lynch seconded by Mr Ashworth, That tbe day suggested by the Master is suitable. — Carried. Proposed by Mr Lynch, seconded by Mr Lynch, That Messrs Shortall and Ashworth be the visiting Committee for tbe ensuing month. — Carried. This was all the business.
