FURTHER TORY GAINS.
STANLEY, THE EXPLORER, ELECTED. MR KELR HARDIE AND MR BEN TILLETT DEFEATED. RETURN OF MR JOHN BURNS. (Per Press Association.) London, July 16. Additional election returns are as follows : — Thomson, Tory, for Clapham ; H. S. Cross, Tory, for Bolton, with J. Harwood, Liberal, which is a gain for the Liberals' majority ; Banes, Tory, defeated Keir Hardie for Westham South by 775 ; Gray, Tory, defeated Grove, Liberal, for Westham North by 704 ; Marquis of Camarthen, Tory, re-elected for Buxton by a majority of 2000 ; Purvis, Unionist, for Peterborough ; Whiteley, Tory, for Ashton-Under-Tyne ; C. T. Ritchie, for Croydon, by a majority of 2400 ; Wills, Liberal, for Bristol seat ; Shadwell, Tory, for Hastings ; Russell, Tory, for Cheltenham ; Shaw, Liberal, and a Tory for Halifax ; Fry, Unionist, for Bristol North ; Stanley, the explorer, Tory, for North Lambeth, by a majority of 400, defeating C. F. Trevelyan and a son of Trevelyan ; Sir E. Clarke, Tory, with C. Harrison, Liberal, for Plymouth ; Sir Charles Dalrymple, Tory, with D. F. Goddard, Liberrl, for Ipswich. The Liberals therefore gained two seats at the last mentioned elections. Wanklyn, Unionist, for Bradford Central, beating Siiaw-Lefevre ; Murdoch, Tory, for Reading, which is Unionist gniu ; Reed, Tory, for the Bradford seat, which is Unionist gain ; C. M. Royd, Tory, for Rochdale, Unionist gain ; Fowler, Tory, for Bradford West, defeating the Liberal candidate and Ben Tillctt, Labor candidate, whioh is Unionist gain. Unionists gain North Aberdeen City, Kennington, Hartlepool, and Oldham, where Ashcroft and Oswald, Tories, defeated Hibberd and other Liberals. The Liberals gain Huddersfield. The sitting members were returned for Woolwich, Devonport, Tynemouth, Bath, Cambridge, ancl Battersea. Burns defeated Kidley Smith, a Queenslander, by 259 for Durham. Fowler was elected by a majority of one. Later. Re-elected unopposed — Bass, Union ist, for Staffordshire West ; Colonel Saunderson, Tory, for Armagh North * Viscount Curzon, Tory, for Wycombe * Lord E. Talbot, Tory, for Chichester : Roberts, Liberal, for Carnarvon ; Campbell, Tory, for Glasgow and Aberdeen Universities ; Jeffreys, Tory, for Basingstoke ; Lord Hill, Tory, for West Down; Gordon, Nationalist, for Tipperary ; Combe, Tory, for Cliertsey ; Webb, Nationalist, for Waterford ; Smith, Tory, lor Hertford ; Knox, Nationalist, for C-van ; Dr Tanner, Nationalist, for Mid Cork ; Tally, Nationalist, for Lietrim ; Sir E. Hill, Tory, for South Bristol ; Dorforcl, Tory, and" Col Gourlay, Liberal, were elected for Sunderland, Storey, the Liberal sitting member, being defeated ; Doughty, Radical, defeated Heneage, Unionist, at Great Grimsby ; Davitt was elected for East Kerry, unopposed. Ilarcourt will stand for another seat. Sexton has published a manifesto declining to re enter Parliament owing to the increased discord among the Irish Party. Sir William Harcourt's defeat is attributed to the combined attacks of publicans. Warnington, Liberal, has offered to retire from West Monmouth in favor of Ilarcourt. Justin Macarthy has been returned unopposed. The returns so far are — Tories and Unionists, 171 ; Liberals, 25 ; anti-Par nellites, 4 ; Parnellites, 4.
