Carbine, on his arrival iv England, was visited by the representatives of the sporting press, wbo write in glowing terms with regard to his general conformation and tha excellent condition in which he appeared after the voyage, Rob Ray, Wallace, and Auraria are the favorites for the V.R.C. Derby, being quoted at 7to I. For the Melbourne Cup Atlas and Dreamland are most in demand at 100 to 4. For the past season Irish Twist won in stakes the sum of £928 ss, being placed eighth on the list from Mahaki, whose total winnings were £1434 163. North Atlantic was second with £1328 ss, Prime Warden third, with £1328 2s.
