Prohibition Meeting.
(Per Press Association.) Christchurch, July 15. At a public meeting held in connection with tbe Prohibition movement at Rangiora on Sunday night, addresses were given by the Revs S. J. Garlick and P. R. Munro, the delegates to the Wesleyan Conference, and others. A number of speakers said that the report of the interview, which appeared in the papers, with the Premier was biassed, and complained that the Press Association bad not given more attention to the recent licensing matters in Christchurch. A resolution was carried, expressing the opinion that the Government had failed culpably in its duty in connection with laws affecting illegal , sales of intoxicating liquors, one immediate and inevitable result of which was to bring the law into disrepute, and to call upon Parliament and the Govern) ent to take prempt and decisive steps to reform the police force of the colony, and to provide for the efficient adminis* tration of the Licensing law.
