Masonic News.
Last evening the installation of JBro W. 11. HartgiU ns W.M. of the Feilding Lodge, took place in tho Foresters' Hall, and the investitute of ofHcers : — Bro Levett, S.W. ; Bro E. Beavis, G. Anyon, I. Bambery, H. Burmcster (Trumpeter), W. R. Andrews. The Grand Superiutendant. Bro Williams, undertook part of the duties of Installing Master, Bro E. Smith, P.M., gave the address to the Wardens, and the address to the Brethren was given by Bro Carthew P.M. Pastmaster G. H. Worsfold and W. G. Haybittle presented the working tools. Bro G. Kirton, P.M., acted as Master of Ceremonies. The whole ceremony was most impressively performed. Altogether there were about one hundred brethren present. At the conclusion of the ceremony an adjournment was made to the Assembly Rooms, where a banquet was prepared in the style for which Mrs Hastie is so well noted. The menu was a comprehensive one and inciuded all the delicacies of the season. The whole of the arrangements were absolutely perfect, and the attendance was all that could be desired. The tables were originally laid for only seventy but extra accommodation for the additional thirty was provided in a few minutes. The usual Masonic toasts " The Queen and the Craft " and " The Grand Lodge officers " were duly honored. Bro H. Williams, Grand Superiutendant, made a brief but telling speech, and he was followed by the Rev Bro Ronaklson, Grand Secretary, who gave au interesting resume of the history of the Grand Lodge for the past rive years. Bro Wetherell, Grand Ward.en, spoke very feelingly of the reception they had received at the hands of the Brethren of the Lodge, and complimented the officers on their working. The toast of the W.M. and officers was proposed by Grand Superintendant Williams, in a very complimentary speech. TheW.M., Bro Hartgill, replied in a felicitous speech. The visiting Brethren was proposed by P.M., Bro W. G. Haybittle, and responded to by Bro Hockin, W.M. of the Manawatu Kilwinning ; Bro Dixon, P.M. St. Andrews,; Bro Meadowcraft, Past Grand Senior Warden of the Grand Lodge of Victoria, and others. P.M. Bro Sherwili proposed the health of the 1.P.M. , Bro Charles Bray, junr., which was warmly received. Bro J. H. Stevens proposed " The Ladies " and Bro Meadowcraft responded. Bro Sandilands gave the toast of the Hostess, Mrs Hastie, which was received with great enthusiasm. During the evening songs aud recitations were given by the following:— W.M. Bro Hartgill, Bros. Matheson, Hunn, Lionel Abraham, Jack, Duloy, E. N. Barraud and J. McLaren. Bro Jack played several inspiring tunes on the bagpipes. Tho Tyler's toast was given, and " Auld Lang Sync " brought the proceedings to a close.
