TWO MEN FROZEN TO DEATH. (Per Press Association.) Timaru. July 12. Mos.sagcs from Burkes Pass state that Wednesdays snowfall completely blocked the Pass with four feet of snow. Communication with Mackenzie Country is cut oil. The country west of Cave is now under suow. Ciiiustciiurch, July 12. Two hundred and thirty-six unemployed were engaged yesterday in clearing the snow and ice off the thoroughfares. One hundred unemployed were engaged to-daj' at the same work. A young man named Wm. Petrie, of Kowai Bush, was lost in the suow at Mount Torlesse while extricating sheep. Duxedin, July 12. Ernest Love, about 22 years of age, mail man between Ophir aud Ida Valley, was discovered dead this morning. He left Ophir yesterday afternoon aud was evidently frozen to death.
