The Fire Brigade Vote.
(Per i J ress Association). Wellington. Jnly 11. A deputation from the United Fire Brigades Association, consisting of Messrs Bobbins, T, D. Cummings, Bellringer and Gilberd, waited on the Premier this evening in reference to tbe annual grant (o the Association, The deputation was introduced by Mr Pirani, M.H.R. Mr Bobbins explained the position at considerable length, pointing out that without the grant and Railway passes tbe Brigades could not hold their competition and conference. The Premier replied that Government was prepared to contribute £ for £ towards the expenses of the Association, providing railway fares were paid from the balance sheets of the Association. He thought Government contributed too large a share of the expenses of the demonstration compared to the amount given by the brigades themselves. He considered that a contribution of &o from each local bocly wfyere the £re brigade existed would pay half the expenses ofthe affiair, and that woull be a manner of solving the difficulty. This Day.
