Died From an Overdose of Chlorodyne.

(±"er .rress Association.; Wellington, July 9. Anthony Kowband, of Newton, who was to appear in support of an application for his discharge at the Bankruptcy Court to-day, was found dead in bed with a bottle of ehlorodyne beside him. Deceased bad been in the habit of taking the drug to procure sleep. He was 50 years of age, and was formerly an officer in the Imperial Army. He subsequently held a commission in the Colonial Defence force, and saw some service, being severely wounded. He was afterwards clerk in the Audit office, from which be retired on compensation at the end of April, 1894.
