Concert at Taonui.
A concert was held in the Taonui school house last evening in aid of the school funds, and was largely attended, the room being crowded, including a number from Feilding. The several items were well rendered, and met the appreciation of the audieuce. The programme consisted of the following : — Pianoforte overtures were played at the commencement of each part by Mr Davidson (of Palmerston) ; Miss Brunette sang " For all Eternity " ; Master S. Oliver was encored for the piano* forte solo " Pas Redoubt " ; Miss L> Roe sang " Yes, Sir " ; Miss May Bailey played "Irish Diamonds" as a pianoforte solo ; Miss L. Bailey sang " Dear Heart " ; Miss Neill gave two violin solos ; Mr Treseder sang " Mrs 'Enry 'Awkins," " Git yer 'Air cut," "'E dunno were 'c are," and "Dear me, is that Possible," two being in response to encores, and was loudly applauded for each ; Miss Eva Roe sang "The King's Highway"; Mr Johnston gave the amusing recitation " Vat you Please," and sang " Sailing " ; Mr H. J. Bailey sang "Drifting" ; Miss J. Bailey played a selection from " Norraa " ; and Mrs Oliver was encored for her rendition of the song " Maid of Athens," responding with " Alice, where art thou." The accompaniments were played by Miss N. | Roe, Miss Bailey, Messrs Moore, Neilj H. J. Bailey, and Master Oliver. Much of the success of the concert was due to the energy of Miss Bailey, and the funds thus raised will be much appre? ciated by the school committee. Mp W. A. L. Bailey, on behalf of the cam' mittee, thanked those present tor their attendance. At the conclusion of the concert a dance was held and was kept up till a late hour this morning.
