(PKE TRESS ASSOCIATION) Wellington, Jnly 9. Mr Lsvi Conpland, of Wellington, for many years a respected citizen of Auckland, has been asked to contest the Auckland city election. Mr Coupland has not yet decided whether ■ he will accept the invitation, but will probably pay a visit to Auckland in a few days and will then determine. Auckland, July 9. Mr Shcra is out for the city seat. At a meeting of the Liberal Association it was resolved -" That this Association has hoard with the deepest regret of the withdrawal of Sir George Grey from polit ical life and hopes his life will be spared for many years for the service of his fellow men." __________„„_
