A Snub.
«. A deputation, with Sir Walter Buller as spokesman, waited? on the J£aka Minstrels in Wellington ou Monday asking the minstrels to give up the hall they had engaged, in favor of the Ward banquet. The Chairman of the Minstrels objected on the grounds thaf tlje demonstration was of a party character, besides there were plenty other halls available. The Kaka Minstrels having dispassionately (we are quoting from the Post) reviewed the work of the Treasurer in London, would not be moved by any feelings of loyalty to Mr Ward. Sir Walter Buller was very sorry to hear it and said that Young JNew Zealand was devoid of loyalty. He always understood that young men. gave way to their elders and betters. Mr Morrah said that was so, but sometimes the requests of their elders and betters exceeded the bounds within which they were privileged, as in this instance; The Kaka Minstrels could not see their way to make way for the -Ward demonstration. The deputation then withdrew.
