MANAWATV RUGBY UNION. j A special general meeting of the Manawatu Rugby Union was held in the Royal Hotel, Palmerston N., last evening. The following delegates were present : — Messrs Macarthur and Fake, Palmerston Club ; Robinson and Nash, Pirates ; Mahon, HalfHoliday ; A. C. Matheson and A. Carty, Feilding ; R. Whisker and A. Richards, Marton ; F. Bray, Red Stars. Mr J. H. Hankins was voted to the chair, on the motion of Mr Matheson, seconded by Mr Mahon. The transfers of L. and A. Giorgi from the Half-Holiday Club to the Pirates 11. was granted. Permission was given to a Feilding player to play with the Pohaugina team in a match on Saturday next. Permission was granted to members of the Palmerston 11. team to play Pohaugina ; Pirates IT. to play two matches with Ashurat and one with Pohangiua ; and Half- Holiday a match with the Fire Brigade. Notice of motion was given by Mr Macarthur, That the motiun passing j the Marton Club's account for payment bo rescinded. A resolution was passed striking out rule 33 and another substituted to the effect that no player could get a transfer from one Club to another after June Ist. A lengthy discussion took place on the matter of a protest lodged by the Palmerston Club that the president had exceeded his. duties in giving a casting vote at the Feilding meeting when a motion to suspend the Feilding Club for playing -Martini and Stewart was negatived on his casting vote. The chairman ruled that the Feilding meeting was ultra vires and the Palmerston protest had not been decided. On the ruling that the president or vice-presidents had no voice in deciding a protest, the meeting was without a chairman and Messrs Nash and Mathesou were proposed to that position, and the voting being equal a deadlock ensued. It was ultimately decided that, as the Palmerstoß Club had forwarded their protest to the New Zealand Rugby Union, the Feilding Club should be allowed to state their case and forward it also. The matter then drop ped. It was arranged that the next meeting be held in Feilding and the meeting adjourned. A special general meeting of members of the Feilding Football Club will be held in the Empire Hotel on Saturday evening next, ai eight o'clock, when a presentation will be made to Mr A. L. Parr, whe leaves Feilding at the beginning oi next week for the United States. Mi Parr has been connected with the Feilding Football Club as a promineni playing member for a number o1 years. In fact, he is the oldest mem her of the Club who is still playing and his fellow members wish to pre sent him with a souvenir in recognitior of the service he has rendered to the Club. During the present season h< has played as full- back, but those wh< have resided in the district for th< past eight or nine years will remembe: him as having been a brilliant three quarter, and a player on whom even reliance could be placed. The following team will represen Pohangina against Palmerston II 01 Saturday :— Backs, Peddie, Johnston Mann, Lucas, Denton, Corkery ; for wards, Watson, Parish, Adsett (2j Fitch, Nudge, Blake, Hitchrnan, an< Lucas. Referee, Mitchell. The Half-Holiday Club defeated thi Pirates 11. yesterday by 7 points to nil In the first spell Butler kicked a goa from a mark, and in the second !^lal scored a try. The game was wejl con tested. The Palmerston 11. forfeited to th< Feilding 11. yesterday afternoon. A match was played at Awahur yesterday between the Awahuri am Parawanui Maoris, resulting in a wii for the former by 21 points. An interesting football match will bi played on the Oval on Saturday after noon when the players of the Feildinj Club will try conclusions with th< Veterans. The following teams hav< been selected ; — Players — Full - back Gosling ; three • quarters, P. Giesen Robinson, Parr ; halves, W. Shannon Collins; forwards, Matravers, W. Gie sen, Martini, Stuart, Matheson/Wliiske] (2), Newman, Lloyd; emergencies, J McFarlane and Bilderback. Veterans— Full-back, H. B. Dyer ; three-quarters S. Moore, C. Bryce, G.
