Supposed Attempted Suicide.
i «j About noon yesterday, Constable Price [ who was on duty in Lambton-quay, was . informed that a young man named Ben- . jamin Shnre, a native of Russia, was lying at Curtis' Restaurant in a precari- 1 ous state. The constable at once went into the house, and found Shure lying on a bed in an upstairs room, with a packet marked " Poison " on a table close by, 1 As the man was in a bad state, Constable ; Price called in Mr W. C. FitzGerald, chemist, who took prompt steps. Shnre, who was in a drowsy state, was afterwards conveyed in a cab to the Hospital. It appears that he had been living in the house for about ten days, and hud been much depressed in consequence of being: unable to find employment. About noon to-day Joseph Henderson, a fellow lodger, ( saw him with a glass of something in his c hand, and on going into his bedroom he ( found Shure on the bed with a package c whicli had contained ground opium on ' _ the table. Henderson suspected that \ Shure had committed suicide, and at once s informed the police. — Post. _
