]Per Press Association! Auckland, Juue 28. The Auckland Poultry, Pigeon and Canary Association's exhibition comprises 920 birds. A six-roomed house owned and occupied by Edward Grey, of Mangatapu, was burned down. It was insured in the Commercial Union for Owing to representations made to the Government re companies formed with mining leases a telegram was received in Auckland from the Minister of Mines to the effect that while the Warden must see the law is not evaded in the case of a purely speculative lease, he will have discretionary power to grant reasonable protection when satisfied that the ground is taked up with the bonafide intention of working it and the necessary steps for commencing operations being pushed forward with due despatch.
