Rough Weather in the Straits.

(Per Press Association). Wellington, June 27. Though the southerly gale has abated here the Captains of vessels arriving report that a heavy sea is still running in the Straits. The Kanieri from the north had a trying time- The vessel left Opunake on Monday. Captaiu De Wolfe speaks of the sea off Terawhiti as terrific. The vessel was flying light, aud at times almost stood on end. A barqueutine was under Guard's Bay on Monday night, but Captain De Wolfe could see no signs of her when he left last night. A tremendous s,ea is sti|l running at the Heads.
