Surprise was expressed at the rumoured refusal of Sir J- Forrest to appoint Sir W. Robinson Agent-General for Western Australia without salary on the ground that an objectionable precedent would be created if no salary was accepted for such an oflice. It is understood Sir W. Robinson was prepared to accept bare expenses in the same way as Sir R. Herbert does. Nelson Bros.' new company will be cooperative, and work entirely on the consignment system.
