The Gourlay and Stokes Company.

♦ On Monday nest this well-known Company is advertised to play at the Assembly Kooms, and we look forward to a specially good evening's .- amusement. They are now playing to splendid business et the Opera House, Wellington, and " Revels '\ has undoubtably made the hit of the season there. " .Revels "is a comedy burlesque on very similar lines to " Skipped by the Light of the Moon." The plot, like other pieces of its class, being full of improbabilities. Its main object is to amuse, and the New Zealand Times says : — " Last night it completely fulfilled its mission if the continual roars of laughter from the audience is to be accepted af evidence. It is brimful of variety business and gives the talented Gourlay's full scope for the display of their ability. Never for a moment do they let tbe fun cease, &c, &c." In the great specialty scene in the second act Mr Gourlay gives his marvellous " Spider Dance," and sings the now popular Coster songs. His sister, Miss Amy Gourlay, appears in reform dress which all ladies should see, as she kn^ws how to make it look charming. Her song " What Do I Care " is, we believe, a gem of the first water. The box plan is now open at Carthew's and we recommend these who wish to get good seats to apply early.
