The Jocal Good Templar Lodge held anotl«r of their popular concerts iu llie Foresters' Hall last evening, and, as on previous occasions, the room was crowded. A lengthy programme was gone through, and, judging from the applause, the efforts of those who contributed items were much ap« predated. The Rev. J. Cocker pre~ sided and introduced thoso taking part. The items given were a pianoforte solo by Miss K. Hamilton. Mr D. Simpaou sang " A helping hand ;" Miss L. Mackenzie (a little girl) sang " Will you sign the pledge ?" and the humorous song, in character, " Dear old grand-pa;" Messrs Simpson and Staffao played a couple of violin duets ; Mr Greenwood gave a humorous song, and, being encored, replied with another which caused a lot of amusement ; a child's temperance address was given by little Miss E. Mac kenzie ; Miss Greenwood played a pianoforte solo ; Mrs Mackenzie and Mrs Jackson sang the duet ' Convent Bells;" "The Bwanee river," was given as a solo and chorus by Miss Fiddler and members of the Lodge ; " Or« more river to ciO3B " was given as a solo and chorus t.y Miss L. Mackenzie and members of the Lodge ; "The fisherman and his child" was also given as a solo aad chorus by Miss Mackenzie and members of the Lodge; Mr Milson saig '• Ora pro nobis," and " No ore to welcome me home;" and Mr Jolly gave a very humorous recitation. Tue accompaniments were played by Misses Hamilton, Greenwood, and Mackenzie. At the conclusion of the above programme refreshments were handed round, and everyone enjoyed themselves thoroughly. It is proposed to continue these socials at regular inter vals, as a means of keeping members together and popularising the Lodge, which is very strong, with an increas ing membership.
