There were no traces of pleuro. Melbourne, June 17. The Age, after pulling to pieces MajorGeueral Tulloch's speech at the London Merchant Tailors' dinner, concludes by expressing the hope that the Australians will accept his criticism for what it is worth, but wants to know if it is worth anything at all, when the critic merely reflects the views of the narrow colonial circle in which snobbishuess reigns supreme. At a meeting of the depositors in the Colonial Bank of Australia, the scheme for re-arrangement was adopted. This provides for a reduction in the rate of interest from 4i per cent to 2? or 2 per cent, if earned for a period of five years, and thereafter at the current rate with the xetension of time for principal moneys.
