«. HEAVY FALL OF SNOW. (Per Press Association). Christchurch, Jute 15. There was a fall of snow in the city last night, and to-day portions of the Port Hill are covered. Fourteen unemployed have been selected for road work at Pahiatua. They will be sent North on Wednesday. The unemployed fund committee has organised a system of collecting subscriptions. It has also resolved to promote concerts in aid of the winter work fund. Dunedin, June 16. Bain fell nearly all day Saturday and last night, while a drizzling mist prevails to-day. It is feared that if the rain has been general in the interior, heavy floods will follow, as the result of melting snow. A Cromwell message states that the rain changed to snow shortly before midday on Saturday, Up to date the sum of LBSO has been collected for the unemployed fund. The funeral of the late Mr Edmund Smith, manager of the Savings Bank, was largely attended. The Public Trustee sent a wreath, and was represented by the district Agent. New Plymouth, This Day. Several heavy Hailstorms with thunder and lightning parsed over the town yesterday. The ground was white for hours with the hail tbat fell. Pahiatua, June 15. Mr A. W. Hogg, M.H.R., addressed a crowded meeting here last night, and gave an account of the doings of last session and the work of the Government. At the conclusion of his address, a vote of thanks to Mr Hogg, and confidence in him as a representative, was carried unanimously.
