Supreme Court Sittings.
(Per Press Association.) Wellington, Jane 4. At the Supreme Court, in the case of Thomas Johnstone, convicted of forging an endorsement to a cheque for £'2, his Honor remarked that prisoner had been continually in gaol since 1884, and had evidently made up his mind to live by swindling. Ohas, Robinson was found guilty of receiving valuables stolea from the Museum knowing them to be stolen, and was sentenced to two years' hard labor. George Sandbrook and Patrick Stanton, charged with assault and robbery at Masterton, were acquitted. This Day. Thomas Johnston, for false pretences, was sentenced to fifteen months. E Parsons and M. Knight pleaded guilty to obtaining money by false pretences by means of the confidence trick, and were remanded for sentence. Auckland, June 4. At the Supreme Court sessions, Oscar Bannum, for breaking and entering was admitted to probation for 12 months, and to pay costs. Henry Sloan, larceny from a hotel, 12 months. Jesse Cockhead, sheepstealing, two years. "
