Bowling Club.

A general meeting of the members of the Bowling Club was held in the Manchester Hotel last Saturday evening. Present — Messrs W. A. Sandilands (in the chair), H. W. Davy (secretary), W. Hodren, P. Thomson, W. Light, G. Saywell, W. A. L. Bailey, C. Bray (junr), Philps, E. Giesen, J, McLaren, H. Bastings, W. G. Haybittle, 0. Bull, E. J. Allen, W. Dixon, H. Worsfold, W. Carthew, W. Summers. It was resolved, on the motion of Mr Carthew, seconded by Mr Thomson, That the resolution of May loth, to the effect that unless 150 debentures were taken up no further expenditure be made, be rescinded. This step was taken as about 120 debentures were taken up and with the money in hand there was an available sum of about £137 to commence preparing the ground. Resolved, That those gentlemen who have promised to take up debentures be requested to send in the amounts to the secretary b»fore Saturday next, June Bth. On the motion of Mr Bray, seconded by Mr Haybittle, it was resolved, That the ground committee call for tenders for preparing the green ; tenders to be in by Saturday, June Bth. Mr Giesen offered his horse and dray free of charge, and it was resolved, That a hearty vote of thanki be accorded to Mr Giesen for his offer. Resolved, That Messrs Haybittle, McLaren, Sandilands and Bailey be a committee to revise rules and submit same to next meeting. .Notice of motion was given that the entrance fee for members joining for the future be 10s and subscription 21s. The meeting then adjourned.
