Pohangina News.
It is confidently as&erted that the Government intend to put two or three sawmills in the totara reserve near here, and to connect the reserve with Ashurst by means of a light tramway. Perhaps our M.H.R. could tell us more about it. A petition has been fonyarded tq the Wanganui Harbor Board, asking them to have all unsold sections put up for sale. I understand that Mr Milverton, of your town (Palmerston), has bought one of Mr John McKenzie's sections here. The plain and fancy dress ball in aid of the building fund of the Public Hall is fixed for the sth July. I believe a meeting is to be held in the Hall on the Sth of June to endeavour to form a lawn tennis club. — Standard.
