A Melancholy Suicide.

RUINED by DRINK AND GAMBLING (PKB PBESS ASSOCIATION!. Napier. May 31. F. Gray, secretary to the Waipawa County Council and Racing Club, and clerk to the Kaikora Town Board and Patangata Road Board, committed suicide by taking strychnine. He had just applied for a renewal of a prohibition order against himself. He left a letter indicating that drink and gambling had led to his ruin and that death was preferable to prison, from which it is inferred that he was in financial trouble.
