Damages Against the Union Shipping Company.
[PEK PREPS ASSOCIATION 1 1 . Wellington, May 29. In the Supreme Court to-day before Judge Richmond and a special jury, a case was heard in which W. R. MeKinstrey claimed £000 damages from the Union Steamship Company. The tacts of the case were that plaintiff and others were fishing in an open boat off one of the points in the harbor in December last and were run down by the Company's steamer Orowaiti. The occupants were thrown into the water and plaintiff was injured by contact with the steamer. The jury after a short retirement awarded the plaintiff £120 damages and the Judge fixed the costs according to scale.
