(Per Press Association.) London, May 28. Sir V. Harcourt has expressed his concurrence with the views contained in the memorial drawn up by merchants, bankera and others, praying for the adherence to the single gold standard. The Government admits the necessity for the construction of the railway between Moinbassa and Lake Victoria in East Africa. In replying to the bankers' memorial, Sir W. V. Harcourt said that any departure from a gold standard would involve a national disaster.
