Manchester Rifles.
The Manchester Rifles paraded at nino o'clock yestorday forenoon opposite tho Assembly Rooms, and thon marched to a plot of land near the South street bridge. There was a full muster of officers, non commissioned officers, and mon. The usual fen de joic was fired, and after the ■ Royal oalute three hearty cheers were given for Her Majesty the Queen. Captain Kirton gave a brief address to the company, during which ho referred in feeling terms to the late Mr D. 11. Macarthur, M.HR, who had died on that day in 1892, and who had formerly been in command of tbe company. Reference was also mado to the death of the lato General Feilding, who had also dono much for tho corps. Yolunteor James Scott was then called to the front when he was presented with the vory handsome silver watch given by Mr Ilorace Eastings, also the gold medal for tho highest Martini aggregate In making theso presentations Captain Kirton said Volunteer . c cott was " the right hand man " of the company in more respects than one, whilo his skill as a shot, combined with tho valuable instruction he was able to impart to other members of the corps, tended very considerably to elevate the standard. To Volunteer Wilson was then presented the gold medal for the second prize aggregate Martini. Re ference was made to ihe consistent shootiug of Volunteer Wilson, who had kept up the reputation ho brought with him from tlie West Coast of the South Icland. Volunteer E. Bennett was presented with the gold medal for the first Snider aggregate, and Volun teer D. Bennett for the second Snider aggregate. Captain Kirton congratulated them on the progress they hid mado since they joined the corp3, and expressed a hope they would continue to keep up their practice. Dr Charlton's silver medal was win by Vol. R. liilderbcck, who was a'so complimented on bis shooting. The trophy given by the late G* n >ral Feil ling, and won by Serg\ Tarker, was not presented owing to tho absence of the latter from the parade. The annual prize firing was ouimenced after the p.irado when fifteen mm took part in the competition for prizes "iven by the tradesmen of Feildin<r, wilh a sweepstnke added. The light was very bad, which accounts for the rnther indifferent scores made. Tho followin'' are the scores : —
