EUSSIA'S SHAKE OF THE SPOIL. WHY JAPAN GAVE WAY. (Per Press Association.) Shanghai, May 13. It is reported here that Kußsia claims Port Lazareff with a radius of 200 miles of territory. China is willing to admit the olaim, but Japan proposes to limit the territory to 10 miles. London, May 14. The Tinies states the first Chinese loan is not likely to exceed 20 millions sterling, and will be offered at 6 per cent. Yokahama, May 14. The Japanese are excited over the cession of Liaotong Peninsula, and intensely disappointed at the action ofthe Government. The Mikado has issued a warning to bis subjectg to be moderate in their behaviour. Tokio, May 14. A note issued by the Japanese Govern - mant explains that the Liao-tong Peninsula was given up owing to the opposition of the Powers, and through fear that persistence in the demand would interfere with the achievement of peace.
