The Temperance Cause.
(Per Press Association.) Wellington. This Day. A Deputation from the New Zealand Alliance, headed by Sir Robert Stout, waited on Mr Lawson, son of Sir Wilfred Lawsou, on the Steamer Doric this morning for the purpose of welcoming him to tho colony and showing respect to his father. The deputation expressed the hope that Sir Wilfred would see his way to pay a visit to the colony, where his presence would do a great deal of good to the temperance cause. Mr Lawson, in reply, said his father was a very old man, and did not think he would ever come io the colony. He had a great many duties to perform at Home, and, besides, he was averse to travelling, except it was for the benefit of his health. However, he would represent the views of the Alliance to him and point out how a visit from him would assist the cause.
