RE THE MUNICIPAL BUILDINGS.
TO THE EDITOR OF THE STAR. Sir, — I came in too late from the country to attend the ratepayers' meeting, but I consider every ratepayer ought to be thankful to the Mayor, councillors, ratepayers present and those gentlemen, especially Mr Bastings, who stood so vigorously up for building the Council Offices at the corner of Stafford street and Kimbolton road, and not permit a few interested parties to block up the little bit of a Square we have, and the public roads therein, with buildings. If those ten gentlemen who voted against the motion, want to ornament the Square, let them subscribe together and erect five monuments of big Feilding bugs. They could be made of wax and put well into the corners, and the biggest bug with a belltopper in the middle of the Square. By-and-by they would not be much in the road there. By all means let us have the loan, as it will not cost us more in rates. I am, etc., Gustave Martin. Feilding, May 3rd, 1895.
