Mr Sandilands for plaintiffs Judgment for amount claimed, with costs 5. J. McColley v. "Warena Hunia ; claim £4 3s 6d. Mr Sandilands for plaintiff. Judgment for amount claimed, with costs 13s 6d and solicitor's fee ss. J. H. Blackmore charged S. Wilson with using abusive language tolbirn in a public place. Mr Richmond, instructed by Mr Prior, appeared for plaintiff, and Mr Sandilands for defendant. Complaintant and H. L. Jackson gave evidence of the alleged abusive language. Mr Richmond asked that accused should be required to find sureties to keep the peace. Defendant denied having used the language alleged. D. Sutherland also gave evidence for the defence. His Worship had no doubt the offence had been committed, but he did not think the offence was in itself a serious one. Defendant would be convicted and fined £1, with costs 9s and solicitor's fee 21s. Police v. Sarah Foster. This was a charge against defendant for allowing six head of cattle to wander and graze in the streets on April 21st. Constable Tuohy conducted the case for the police, and Mr Reade defended. Isaac Ohurcher deposed to seeing the cattle grazing in the street ; his attention was called to the cattle. T. W. K. Foster deposed the cattle were his, The case was dismissed against defendant, and a fresh charge was laid against her husband, T. W. K. Foster, who, on being charged with the offence, pleaded guilty and was fined 2s 6d, with costs 7s. The Court then adjourned.
