At the opening of the Anglican Assembly in Ballarat, Bishop Thornton said he believed he was voicing the sentiment of the whole of the members of the Assembly when he said that while they hailed with joy the proposed reunion at Home of the original English Church and other Protestant denominations, any union with the Church of Eome would be as absolutely objectionable as it was hopelessly impracticable.
