Football Notes.

JUNIOR CUP MATCHES. A match was [flayed on the Oval yesterday afternoon between the Palmerston N. Half- Holiday Club and Red Stars, resulting in a win for the visitors by three points to' nil. The sides were evenly matched, and neither scored in the first spell, but in the second Wishart succeeded in securing 1 a try. The kick at gxml was intrusted to Troy, and although nearl}in front of the goal posts, he tailed to increase the score. The Ked Stars struggled hard to get on terms with the visitors, but their opponents' defensive play was too strong. Mr W. Giesen acted as reteree and Messrs Kockley and G. Foster filled the positions of line umpires. The Feilding 11. played Awahuri, at Awtihuri, yesterday afternoon, the former winning after a toughly contested game by three points to nil. Shortly after play was started Trescder scored a try for Feilding. Gosling took the kick at goal, but failed to increase the score. During the game Awahuri twice crossed their opponents goal line, but were not allowed tries owing to infringements of the rules. Mr T. An\on acted as referee and Messrs Tank and D, .Bennett line umpires lor Feilding and Awahuri respectively. In the Junior Cup match between the Pirates and Palmerston second teams, the Jatter could oniy muster eleven players, the majority of whuni were boys, and the Pirates gained a very easy victory by 30 points to nil. The Feilding Club will play their first senior cup match of the season, against Palmerston, on the Oval on Saturday afternoon, commencing at 3 o'clock. Admission of Is will be charged for gentlemen, and ladies free. Tickets may be procured from the secretary for 5s which will admit holders to all matches on tlie Oval during the season, excepting representative matches.
