THE TRIPLE ALLIANCE. CUBAN INSURGENTS DEFEATED. MARRIAGE IN HIGH LIFE. (Per j. J ress Association.) London, April 30. It is reported that Germany has proposed to Italy to prolong the Triple Alliance for six years, in view of the unsettled state of affairs in Asia. Wheat is one shilling dearer. The marriage of Lord William Beresford and the Duchess of Marlborough has been celebrated. A Hull firm has been offered 20,000 rabbits per week at 6jd for large sized, and 6d for small — deliveries to begin in London at the end of August. The firm is willing to sell on commission if this course is preferred. Capetown, April 80. The Rimutaka sailed yesterday for Hobart and New Zealand. The Chamber of Commerce opposes the idea of a discriminating tariff, wishing to establish a free market with all countries. Madrid, April 30. The Cuban insurgents were twice defeated with great loss. Prktoria, April 30. The Transvaal has protested against the annexation of Ambegesa.
