The National Leprosy Institution has awarded a prize of fifty guineas to Dr Ashburton Thompson, of Sydney, for his researches in leprosy. \Dv Athbufton Thompson is well known throughout Australia as a leading authority on all matters affecting sanitation. With repard to leprosy, he holds the opinion that there is noshing in its history to warrant the present absolute isolation of patients, and that no conclusive proof has been shown that the disease is either hereditary or contaeious.l
