The New Zealand Loan.

(PEB PBBS3 ASSOCIATION.) Sydney, April 29. The Telegraph says that New Zea land in floating a loan at 3 per cent, is settnig an example, which is sure to be followed. The departure may be a bold one, but is undoubtedly in the right direction. The Herald can hardly see what is to be gained by the change from 3§ per cent as the money will probably be borrowed at the equivalent or' that price. It is feared that objectionable use of a nominal rate of 3 per cent will be made by politicians to make loans to farmers appear to be profitable. Wellington, April 29. The Government state that Mr Ward did not directly arrange the loan with the Bank of England, but that the transactions were conducted as usual by the Loan Agents after consulting with Mr Ward. Within fifteen minutes of its announcement, the loan was quoted at 2 per cent, premium.
