Tariff Commission.

(Per Press Association.) Auckland, April 29. Before the Tariff Commission, Graves Aichin and F. G. E\vington complained of the mode of reckoning duty on goods imported from America, especially the increased charges made by the Customs on chairs. They asked that relief be given. C. J. Shaw, T. H. Ellis and Graves Aickin asked for simplicity in the classification of chemicals and drugs, and a more uniform system of levying duty. They suggested that the duties on proprietary medicines be increased say to 40 i per cent. \ Reuben Martin objected to the system of Customs duties altogether, and suggested in its stead direct taxation. The Commissioners have lgfG for the Thames.
