At a general meeting of subscribers to the Technical School Association, Sir Maurice O'Rqrke was elected President, the Major, Vice-President, and a strong committee, including Professors Brown and Thomas. The Employers Association decided not to registrar under the Conciliation Act owing to the inability of the masters to get the same redraes from the operatives as the laiter can gefc against the former. The shopkeepers who objected to Saturday afternoon closing notify that they will close on Wednesday, and comply with the spirit of the Shops and Shopassistants Act, which contemplated simply a weekly half-holiday, A large number closed to-day. Wellington, April 23. Mr Stephen Harding's stables at Masterton were destroyed by fire. The entire horse Prince Charlie and the granery plant were destrojed. Dunediv, April 24. The Hon. W.
