Mortality amongst Sheep.

(Per Press Association., Syddet, April 23. A large number of sheep are dying in the Braidwood district from a new disease locally known as liver rot. It is distinct from fluke. A Governm«nt officer has been sent to investigate ArcKLANC, April 23. Amongst the passengers who arrived from Sydney by the Manaponri was Mr H. Simon, who comes to New Zealand as representative ot Mr John Fattie, veterin* ary surgeon, Sydney,' to investigate the mortality among sheep. A similar class of diseases appeared in New South Wales, and the method of treatment devised by Mr Pattie proved remarkably successful. Mr Simon will visit Hawke's Bay and the Wellington district, but it is doubtful whether he will be able to go to the South Island.
